Seven-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi made the switch to the French capital during the summer transfer window of 2021 after his contract renewal with Spanish giants FC Barcelona fell apart during the final stages.
A news that shocked the football fraternity, fans and many more, seeing Leo Messi don a new jersey color was hard to imagine. A player who wanted to retire at Camp Nou had to make the strangest exit and join Paris Saint-Germain.
On arrival, Messi immediately became the favorite, breaking record merchandise sales, Social Media engagements and more. Football fans across the world were keen on seeing him join forces with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe but it hasn’t yet come to fruition.
Having played 15 times for the PSG, Leo Messi has found the back of the net 6 times, 5 of which have been in the champions league and only 4 assists to his name overall. It seems clear that Messi is taking time to adjust to life in new colors, a new city and a new style of play under Mauricio Pochettino. Leo may not have the same stats as his time at FC Barcelona, but it’s too early to count him out and surely shouldn’t be judged by goals.
Leo Messi has had a fantastic 2021, winning the Copa America - an international trophy to his name, like finally! Winning the Ballon d’Or for the seventh time, becoming the most capped player for Argentina and also a top scorer in international football from South America. Leo Messi surely had an amazing calendar year.
It’s a strong belief that Leo Messi will find great form and inspire his team to European glory.
Good Luck Leo Messi
